Baby Toy Safety

Baby toy safety resources include tips on toy safety and websites that keep lists of toy recalls.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission - Toys
www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html

The CPSC website has many resources for consumer protection, including lists of recalled products.

These recall lists include Toy Hazard Recalls that are listed by date of issue with most recent first.

The list is useful whenever you are going to purchase toys for your baby, and it should be kept up to date, as per the CPSC's charter of keeping the consumers informed.

BabyCenter - Tips on Toy Safety

This page tries to give tips on how to avoid the CPSC 2004 estimated 210,300 toy-related injuries that are treated in U.S. hospital emergency rooms every year. Of those, 35 percent (72,800) involved kids under 5, as of 2004.

These tips are mainly not related to the regulations that are imposed on toy manufacturers, but on the way the majority of accidents occur, when toys are left lying around the home and when young children have access to toys designed for older children.
