Nicholas Cage Explains Reasons for Baby Name

Recently, Nicholas Cage became a father again when his wife, Alice, gave birth to a baby boy, named Kal-El, which is also Superman's birth name. Now he’s spoken about the reasons behind this unusual baby name.

The reason for the name, quite simply, is because Nicholas has, as he states, "a warm spot in my heart", for comic books.

That love is also obvious through his choice for stage name, as the stage-surname Cage is adapted from the Marvel superhero Luke Cage.

When thinking about naming their son, according to the interview in which Nicholas gave the reasons behind the naming, the pair wanted to find a name that was exotic, American and stood for something good.

So Kal-el was the name they came up with, and then Kal for short.
